Doha, Qatar: The General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced the receipt of a new cash endowment valued at 400,000 Qatari Riyals. The donation was made by a benefactor under the management of the General Directorate, with the proceeds explicitly dedicated to the “Mosque Construction Endowment” initiative.
This contribution continues a long-standing tradition of generosity from the donor, whose historical records with the Directorate demonstrate a deep personal commitment to the sustainable impact of charitable endowments.
The Mosque Construction Endowment is dedicated to funding the establishment of new mosques, as well as contributing to the completion, equipping, and maintenance of existing ones. These efforts aim to provide suitable environments for worship while reinforcing the religious and social roles of the mosque as a centre for guidance, education, and community cohesion. By directing these funds toward mosque construction, the endowment supports the message of faith and strengthens the spiritual bonds among members of society.
Ali Hamad Al-Muhanna Al-Marri, Assistant Director of the Endowment Funds Department, stated that endowments for mosque construction represent an investment in both values and identity. He emphasised that the mosque serves as a hub for raising generations and building a cohesive society based on faith and knowledge.
Al-Marri noted that the continued influx of new endowments reflects a growing awareness of the long-term impact of such contributions, which serve as sustainable resources for future generations. He further assured that the Directorat is committed to strictly executing donor conditions through a robust institutional system rooted in governance and transparency.
The General Directorate of Endownments has highlighted that endowment opportunities are currently available for several mosque and “Jami” (grand mosque) projects across Qatar. This allows donors the unique opportunity to choose and support a mosque near their own residence or community.
Projects currently open for contributions include a daily-prayer mosque in Al Rayyan (Al-Murrah Al-Sharqiya), and grand mosques in Al Rayyan (Muaither North), Al Wakra (Al-Mashaf), Al Rayyan (Rawdat Aba Al-Hiran), and Umm Salal (Umm Ebairiya). Interested individuals can view detailed geographic locations and choose the mosque closest to them via the official website at https://www.awqaf.gov.qa/msjd.
The Directorate encourages benefactors wishing to establish a continuous charity (Sadaqah Jariyah) to utilise the various digital and direct channels available.
