Starting the #KeepQatarClean campaign with beach clean-up at Zikreet, wrote Sheikha Mayassa
Doha: On the occasion of World Wildlife Day, March 3, Chairperson of Qatar Museums H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani launched the #KeepQatarClean campaign to preserve the country's natural resources.
The mission launched 20 months before the country hosts the World Cup 2022 invites residents and citizens to discover and clean up Qatar's historical villages.
This was tweeted by Sheikha Mayassa on her social media account, adding that she will be sharing interesting facts about Qatar's archaeological sites.
Along with the tweet, she shared a 38-second video clip of an Arabian Oryx struggling with plastic litter at Zikreet as she wrote, "The Arabian Oryx is a national icon for Qatar. Over the years, Qatar has played a vital role in protecting & saving it from extinction. It’s sad to see how our plastic consumption affects our nature & where the plastic litter left at Zikreet goes."
