Amir Cup: Al Sadd crush Al Gharafa 5-0 to meet Al Arabi in semi-final

Doha: Reigning champions Al Sadd rode on a brilliant double by Algerian goal machine Baghdad Bounedjah, thrashing Al Gharafa 5-0 to storm into the semi-finals of Amir Cup at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium yesterday.

In the semi-final, the Wolves will meet Al Arabi, who rallied from a goal down to crush Al Sailiya 4-1 in yesterday's other quarter-final.  

Nam Tae-hee, Akram Afif and Yousuf Abdurisag were also on target for Xavi Hernandez-coached Al Sadd, who have are seeking a record-extending 18th Amir Cup title. 

The South Korean star, Tae-hee put Al Sadd in the lead with the first goal in the 25th minute, before Bounedjah added the second a minute later. Afif then made it 3-0 at the stroke of halftime.

Bounedjah scored his second goal and Al Sadd’s fourth in the 72nd minute, and then substitute Abdurisag netted the fifth in the 80th minute to conclude the scoring.

Meanwhile, at the Qatar SC Stadium yesterday, Mohanad Ali took lead for Al Sailiya with a strike in 12th minute before The Dream Team  made a strong comeback to book clash with Al Sadd - a rematch of last December's final.   

Mehrdad Mohammadi levelled for Al Arabi 12 minutes after conceding a goal before  striker Youssef Msakni grabbed lead with a 62nd minute goal. 

Msakani scored his second goal in 73rd minute, seven minutes after Mohammed Salah found target for Al Arabi.
