Doha: The Qatar Development Bank (QDB) has concluded the third annual Investment Forum and the event’s first virtual edition recently, which witnessed a wide participation from entrepreneurs and investors. Held under the theme “Business Transformation and Growth”, this year’s forum was organised with the strategic sponsorship of the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar (Invest Qatar) and the platinum sponsorship of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
More than 1,000 attendees followed the Forum’s live broadcast, which included angel investors, investment banks, venture capital companies, and business accelerators, in addition to individuals and enterprises interested in exploring business ventures across sectors and growth stages.
Through an integrated digital platform launched during the Forum, and the first of its kind in Qatar, participants were able to learn about nine startup ventures – in addition to several other companies featured on the online platform – and connect with their founders to explore prospects of collaboration & investment.
Commenting on the success of the first virtual edition of the Forum, the CEO of QDB, Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa, said: “We are delighted with the success of this year’s edition of the Investment Forum and the positive engagement it has generated. This event is a great opportunity through which we connect Qatari entrepreneurs and SMEs with angel investors and investment funds, and is an integral part of our strategy to facilitate access to capital for entrepreneurs.”
He added: “Together with our partners, we seek to explore the international investment landscape on a macro level, and the Qatari one in particular, as well as introduce local investors and international partner funds to promising and innovative Qatari enterprises, with the aim of bolstering the SME investment mindset in the country.”
