Doha: The Qatar Development Bank (QDB) yesterday launched the first virtual edition of the Qatar Entrepreneurship Conference 2020 (Rowad Qatar) which will be held from November 15-19. The announcement, which is part of QDB’s celebration of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), also highlighted that this year’s Rowad Qatar will run under the theme ‘Business Sustainability: my impact on my economy and my country’.
Regarded as the premier annual entrepreneurship event in Qatar, this year’s edition will be held under the sponsorship of the Qatar Investment Authority as the Conference’s strategic sponsor, Qatar National Bank and the National Tourism Council as platinum sponsors, Ooredoo as the gold sponsor, and Qatar Chamber as the honorary sponsor, in addition to a long list of national partners representing various sectors and industries.
With the launch of the first virtual edition of the Qatar Entrepreneurship Conference, QDB aims to highlight the importance of adapting to change by transforming the pandemic-induced challenge of holding the Conference in its traditional format, into an opportunity to reach a wider audience with a virtual event that takes place on a digital platform. Addressing an online press conference, QDB’s CEO Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa, said: “We are pleased to announce the launch of the Qatar Entrepreneurship Conference 2020 under the theme ‘Business Sustainability: my impact on my economy and my country’, especially in light of these exceptional circumstances imposed by COVID-19. Through this initiative, we aim to enrich the entrepreneurial scene in Qatar and to further develop a cooperative network among the various actors within the ecosystem through which we can continue to exchange dialogue and expertise, and share knowledge, towards serving our strategic goals and realising Qatar’s national vision and its economic diversification and sustainability goals.”
During the event, Al Khalifa also reiterated QDB’s mission to support entrepreneurs, particularly SMEs in Qatar, and highlighted the bank’s previous move to increase its stimulus package for the National Guarantee Programme from QR3bn to QR5bn, as part of Qatar’s economic response to help local businesses amid the pandemic.
This year’s Conference will host a series of training sessions and specialised workshops in line with QDB’s mission to develop interactive platforms for knowledge exchange between ambitious entrepreneurs, and industry experts and thought leaders representing various sectors and domains.
A number of key sustainability topics and issues will be discussed over the course of five days, with the participation of more than 45 industry experts and specialists in nearly 25 different workshops and several panel discussions.
To take part in the event, entrepreneurs and SMEs can visit https://www.qdb.qa/en/rowad-qatar, where they can access the Conference’s full agenda and more information on its workshops and discussion panels.
