Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday visited Milipol Qatar 2016 which concluded the same day attracting 6,538 visitors from 103 countries.
The Emir viewed the latest security technologies that major global companies had on display at the exhibition.
In all, 54 companies from Qatar have participated in the exhibition displaying safety and security items. As many as 35 countries that were represented by 246 official delegates participated, which is an increase of 68 percent compared to the last edition held in 2014. The Milipol Qatar 2016 committee shared these figures with the media at a concluding press conference.
The Emir also listened to presentations on the latest innovation in the field of securing industrial sites, transport and communications as well as the latest developments in civil defence and combating crime.
The Emir was accompanied by Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani. The press conference was attended by the chairman of Milipol Qatar Brig Nasser bin Fahad Al Thani in the presence of Milipol Qatar Committee members Brig Ahmed Abdullah Al Jamal, Brig Saud Rashid Al Shafi, Lt Col Hussain Aman Al Ali and Milipol Exhibitions Director Murial Kafantaris and Comexposium Security's department director Michael Weatherseed. The exhibition was covered by a total of 182 media representatives from different parts of the world, and the Ministry of Interior alone generated 11 deals worth a total of over QR260m during the first two days of the exhibition, said Kafantaris.
Kafantaris added that more than 230 exhibitors from 35 countries took part in Milipol Qatar 2016 which included eight new country entrants such as Algeria, Belize, Cyprus, Jordan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Pakistan and Uganda, in addition to five international pavilions representing France, China, Germany, North America and the UK.
The 12th edition of Milipol Qatar, Kafantaris said, will be held in October 2018 in Doha, where Milipol Qatar will incorporate the existing civil defence exhibition & conference in order to make it the region’s leading homeland security and Civil defence event. Meanwhile, Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi, Director General of Public Security, yesterday honoured the sponsors and delegations of the exhibition at Doha Sheraton Hotel.
