Wrestling: QPW event starts today in Doha

DOHA: Wrestling fans in Qatar are getting prepared to witness the most ferocious battles of Qatar Pro Wrestling (QPW) world wrestling championship in the country. 

Featuring some of the most famous wrestlers in the world including Bobby Lashley, Carlito and Big V, the championship which is organised by QPW, in co-operation with Hyatt Plaza shopping Mall and Global Entertainments, will begin today at Hyatt Plaza shopping Mall. 

With more than 13 famous wrestlers from around the world showcasing their stunts over three days, the entertainment show will combine the western and oriental wrestling concepts in a single event, creating a unique wrestling championship for the first time in the history of middle-east. 

The series of shows will feature many popular wrestlers including Bobby Lashley, Carlito, Big V, Alofa, Chris Raaber, Chris Master, Michael Kovac, Johnny Moss, Rene Dupree Shehab Al Mossa and Matt Cross, fighting numerous rounds, to win over an elegant and beautifully crafted QPW championship belt. 

“This week has been both hectic and exhilarating for all of us at QPW, as we welcomed some of the most famous wrestlers to Doha,” said Ali Al Marafia, the founder and Chairman of QPW. 

He added: “But with more wrestlers arriving soon, the coming days are going to be more exciting. We are sure that thousands of fans across the country and the region are as delighted as we are, to witness the first QPW world wrestling championship in Doha”

Preliminary rounds will take place today and tomorrow, followed by the finals on October 5. 

Tickets are available in Hyatt Plaza Shopping Mall and all Virgin megastores across Qatar.
