Doha: Qatar Airways (QA) has enhanced its ties with oneworld partner Royal Jordanian with the launch of a new code-share agreement to increase travel opportunities for both airlines’ customers.
Under the agreement, QA passengers travelling between Doha and Amman on both airlines will benefit from the same airline code and a streamlined level of service from oneworld partners.
Members of the airlines’ frequent flyer programmes will also be able to collect points on flights, with the initial route paving the way for additional code share expansions in the near future across destinations in the US and Asia.
Akbar Al Baker, Chief Executive, QA Group, said becoming a member of oneworld has enabled QA to strengthen its competitive offering, while expanding travel options for passengers around the world within the global alliance network.
“The new agreement with our fellow oneworld member airline, Royal Jordanian, demonstrates this and will allow passengers to benefit from seamless journeys around the globe.”
Captain Haitham Misto, President and CEO, Royal Jordanian, said both airlines enjoy a strong relationship and are keen to provide superb on board and ground services. “The agreement will enhance cooperation between our two companies, offering our passengers more travel options and frequencies to cities around the world.”
QA has seen rapid growth in 18 years of operations and flies a modern fleet of 162 aircraft to over 150 key business and leisure destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and the Americas.
Royal Jordanian celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2013. Eight years ago it became a public shareholding company to connect Jordan and the Levant with the world. In 2007, it was the first Arab carrier to join any of the three global airline alliances.
