Doha: Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) Hassan Al Thawadi expressed his belief that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be the greatest edition ever.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the draw held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC), he said that the competition will be the best ever thanks to the legacy it will leave for Qatar, the Arab region, and the entire world.
He said that draw was another step towards the start of the World Cup, which revealed the mascot, the World Cup’s official song, and the draw. He said that event left all participants with a good impression, adding that even those who had doubts left with a positive impression.
On Qatar’s group in the World Cup, he said that Arab teams will face a big challenge at the World Cup. He also said that the match against Ecuador will be a difficult one. He highlighted that the Qatari team does have experience facing South American teams, having participated in Copa America. As for Senegal, Al Thawadi expressed his belief that the Qatari team will know how to navigate that match.
Meanwhile, CEO of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Nasser Al Khater, has expressed his absolute confidence in organising an ideal tournament for all the teams and fans.
Al Khater said that Qatar is ready to fulfill its commitment of organising a tournament in which the highest levels of success are achieved in light of the participation of the strongest teams in the world. The CEO of the tournament revealed that Qatar took full advantage of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021, which was held in Doha at the same time as the World Cup last year, and said that they worked through it to improve administrative and organisational performance in order to reach the top of the organisational level in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Al Khater reiterated his confidence in the capabilities of the working team in organizing the tournament, noting that everyone had acquired the necessary experience and expertise to achieve the desired success in the World Cup.
Al Khater pointed out that the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy is working in full coordination for a distinctive version that will remain in memory of fans across the world.
