Xavi, Afif best in December and January

Doha:  Al Sadd's coach Xavi Hernandez and star striker Akram Afif were adjudged the QNB Stars League’s (QSL) best coach and player for December and January, yesterday.

Under Spaniard Xavi, Al Sadd played six matches during the period. The Wolves registered five victories (against Al Gharafa 5-1, Al Shahania 4-2, Al Sailiya 3-0, Al Arabi 6-1 and Al Khor 2-1) and suffered one defeat (Al Wakrah 1-2) to collect 15 points.

According to STATS, the official statistics and figures provider for the Qatar Stars League, the average number of passes per game during the period reached 568, of which 480 were successful.

Afif, played a vital role in all of their vistories and spent a total of 571.0 minutes on the pitch.

In the process, he scored nine goals and played a crucial role in Al Sadd’s impressive run during the period. The Wolves registered five victories and suffered one defeat to collect 15 points.

Afif had four assists to his credit as well.

The technical analysis of Afif released by STATS showed he made an average of 52.0 passes, of which 40.3 were successful. He scored all his goals from inside the box.

Afif, who was adjudged Asia’s best player for 2019, was also an important part of the triumphant Qatar national team at the Asian Cup early last year.
