Doha: FIFA President Gianni Infantino has met with representatives of all eight competing member associations on the second day of action at FIFA Arab Cup 2021, revelling in the productive exchanges with those present on another compelling day in Doha.

All six state-of-the-art stadiums have now hosted at least one match at the inaugural tournament, with the President being present at Al Thumama Stadium as Egypt narrowly defeated Lebanon in Group D before finishing the first round of matches at Education City Stadium, where Saudi Arabia and Jordan both took to the field in the competition for the first time.

As well as discussions with representatives of the participating member associations, Infantino also met Shahabaldin Azizi Khadem, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Football Federation. Included in their exchanges were talks on women’s football, overall infrastructure and development in the member association.

IR Iran won earlier this year in Doha, 3-0 over FIFA Arab Cup competitors Iraq en route to the top of Group A in the third round of AFC qualification, leaving them well placed to make a sixth appearance at a FIFA World Cup finals – and a third in succession – next year in Qatar.
