DOHA: Ismail M El-jundi is showcasing his new book “My Story: In the Gas Industry” at the Doha International Book Fair. An Engineer by profession and an author by choice, El-jundi is unveiling an autobiographical account of the burgeoning growth of Qatar’s Gas Industry, which he has witnessed first hand. The book, which records a personal narrative that parallels the phenomenal milestones made by the nation, offers a fascinating glimpse into the past while pointing towards Qatar aspirations for the future.
“My Story: In the Gas Industry” is not El-jundi’s first publication, and another one of his books, “An Arab in Japan: I saw, I hear, I read,” is also featured at the book fare. This book was well received, not least for its engaging story-telling but also for the clear glimpse it offered into the very distinct Japanese culture. El-jundi’s talent to draw his readers into the worlds he describes promises to make his new book as much a pleasure to read as his previous work.
“My Story…” is written in Arabic and is rich with technical insights into the development of the energy sector, which powered Qatar’s rise on the global stage. As an observer and a participant El-jundi takes his readers on an exciting and an informative journey. Along the way, in the company of the author, readers witness and experience what the developing sector was like in the years gone by. While they are gradually moved through the pages to the present, the author shares his personal perspectives and experiences, making the book a captivating read.
The author also went onto say that the book shares insights on the energy sectors across Kuwait, Qatar, other GCC countries as well as Netherlands, France, Japan, USA and several others, where he has served the sector for over four decades.
