Golf: Fish duo wins InterContinental Doha Mixed Open

Doha: Richard and Rachada Fish overcame a tough challenge from Fazal and Tasnem Kazi to win the 12th InterContinental Doha Mixed Open golf tournament organised by InterContinental Doha held in association with Mitsubishi Motors at Doha Golf Club (DGC).
Richard and Rachada finished with a net score of 141 in the two-day tournament for couples which attracted a top class amateur field of 200 golfers from throughout the Gulf region.
The tournament played in Greensomes format over the Championship Course at the DGC saw the Kazi’s accumulating 145 points to finish second. 
Roland and Melany Chong clinched the third place, while Mikkel Mathiese and Nada Mir had to settle for the fourth position and Paul Kelly and Hyejin Byeoun came fifth.
Prizes were awarded to the top five couples and special prizes were awarded. This year as part of InterContinental Doha’s ‘responsible business’ strategic vision, a charity auction was held during the awards ceremony. 
InterContinental Doha managed to raise an amount of over $12,136 during the ceremony. 
The collected funds will go to two organisations, IHG Shelter In A Storm and Qatar Cancer Society, InterContinental Doha officials said.  
IHG Shelter In A storm, a charitable organisation which is supporting the victims of the last typhoons in the Philippines and Vietnam, will receive $8,000 from the collected funds.
Qatar Cancer Society, which is one of the leading humanitarian organisations in Qatar works towards increasing public awareness about cancer and cancer prevention.
