Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani attended the celebration of Al Jazeera Media Network marking its 21st anniversary, held under the slogan “Al Jazeera Cannot Be Shut Down” at the network’s headquarters yesterday evening.

The ceremony was attended by the Chairman and members of the board of Al Jazeera Network, a number of employees, in addition to a group of media professionals and intellectuals.

Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al Thani, Chairman of the board of Al Jazeera Media Network, appreciated the continuous support provided by Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Speaking at the event, he said that the biggest support to Al Jazeera is H H the Emir’s statement with CBS, few days ago, when he said that “we will not shut down Al Jazeera” .

The Chairman also said that Al Jazeera will continue to remain firm on its founding principles, stressing that the entities which want to close Al Jazeera are the same who want to block the freedom of speech and to deprive people from gaining knowledge and accurate information. These countries are demanding closure of Al Jazeera because the channel supports freedom of speech.

He also said that Al Jazeera will not deviate from its objectives of providing the best content with the highest standard in all platforms. He emphasised that humanity will remain the main focus of our interest.

Al Jazeera will launch soon digital broadcasting platforms for mobile phones in international languages, including French, and also will launch news service in Chinese and Indonesian languages.
