Doha:  The Al Sadd management feted Hassan Al Haydos, after he completed a century of goals for the club in all competitions.

Al Haydos reached the landmark in the 7-1 win over Al Shahania in the second round match of QNB Stars League match, scoring the sixth goal with a free-kick.

Al Sadd head of football Mohammed Ghanem Al Ali, club staff and players all got together in the dressing room after the game to present Al Haydos with a special jersey to mark the occasion.

Al Sadd coach Xavi Hernandez lauded Al Haydos achievement.

“I am delighted that Al Haydos scored his 100th goal. Congratulations to him. He is an example for all the players. He is an unbelievable player, the captain of the national team and he always works for the team,” the former Barcelona and Spain great said after the match.

Haydos has been the team’s valuable player over the years and in 2017 he committed himself to Al Sadd by signing a long-term contract until 2022, the year Qatar will host the FIFA World Cup.

The 28-year old has been with the Wolves since 2007 and has made over 316 appearances for the club in various competitions. At the club level his biggest success was being part of the victorious side that conquered the Asian continent to win the AFC Champions League in 2011.

The right-winger, who’s the captain of the national team of Qatar started playing football on the streets of Doha and is a former tennis player.

His biggest achievement as captain of the national team was guiding the team to Asian Cup success in February this year in UAE, where in they defeated Japan in the final.

Haydos, who will be 31 in 2022 made his national debut in 2008 has so far made 123 appearances and scored 26 goals is hoping that he will be in the reckoning to be considered for the national team when Qatar plays in the 2022 World Cup on home soil.

“I will try my best to be with the national team in 2022, that would be a dream for me and it is a dream for all in Qatar,” Haydos had said earlier.
