Ooredoo and Best Buddies Qatar (BBQ) yesterday signed an agreement to support the organisation’s social and development programmes for three years at Ooredoo HQ1 in West Bay.

The agreement was signed by Yousuf Abdulla Al Kubaisi, Chief Operating Officer at Ooredoo Qatar and Laalei Abu Alfain, Executive Director at Best Buddies Qatar during a ceremony.

Best Buddies Qatar is a humanitarian initiative that aims to establish a network of volunteers to help create opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. BBQ was launched by H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser in 2008.

Under the terms of the agreement, Ooredoo will provide financial support to the organisation in upcoming events, developing an app for Best Buddies Qatar and make sure the organisation is always connected through the company’s Super net.

Yousuf Abdulla told The Peninsula during the ceremony: “We will cater to the children at Best Buddies to help them financially and provide them with jobs as well. We will open a call centre or a connection hotline to the organisation. In future we will extend out partnership to serve them all the telecommunication needs.”

Laalei Abu Alfain, told The Peninsula: “Our expectation from Ooredoo is to get outstanding technology services for the people with special needs and find employment for the people at Best Buddies. We are delighted to have Ooredoo as a partner for our organisation. Their enthusiastic support for building a culture of solidarity and inclusion, along with the advanced solutions they provide, will enable us to work together to achieve our main goal to end the social, physical and economic isolation of people with intellectual challenges.”

As part of the partnership agreement, additional services to be offered by Ooredoo include a hotline, SMS and MMS services, Hala lines, and allowing donations through Nojoom Points.
