Doha, Qatar: As part of its digital transformation strategy and efforts to harness artificial intelligence and modern technologies, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has officially launched the “FatwaTok” application on Apple and Google platforms.
The new app marks a significant step towards enhancing access to reliable Islamic legal rulings (fatwas) through a modern, user-friendly format tailored to the needs of today’s digital generation, while strengthening the presence of religious content across advanced technological channels.
In this context, Jassim bin Abdullah Al Ali, Director of the Department of Da’wah and Religious Guidance, stated that the launch of “FatwaTok” represents a strategic milestone in the Ministry’s digital transformation journey. He emphasised the Ministry’s commitment to presenting trusted Islamic legal guidance in a contemporary format that meets societal expectations, noting that the project contributes to achieving the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
The launch comes within the Ministry’s broader efforts to modernize the fatwa system and expand its reach to beneficiaries both inside and outside Qatar. “FatwaTok” combines authentic Shariah scholarship with advanced technological tools, offering seamless and fast browsing of a vast library of fatwas, articles, and multimedia content via its website and smartphone application.
One of the app’s standout features is its semantic search capability, powered by artificial intelligence. Rather than relying solely on keyword matching, the system understands the meaning and context of users’ questions, delivering the most relevant fatwas even when phrasing or terminology differs. This significantly enhances both accuracy and speed of access.
The application also utilises AI to summarise fatwas for easier comprehension and convert text into audio files, enabling users to listen when reading is not convenient. Additionally, it provides personalised recommendations based on user interests and interaction patterns.
“FatwaTok” offers a contemporary digital experience built around infinite scrolling and concise content formats, aligning with modern content consumption trends. A sophisticated membership system allows users to save more fatwas, create a personal library, and receive increasingly accurate recommendations as their engagement grows.
The app represents the latest service from the Islamweb network, affiliated with the Ministry’s Department of Da’wah and Religious Guidance. Islamweb continues to strengthen its position as a global online platform for Islamic legal guidance, supported by a database containing hundreds of thousands of carefully reviewed and approved fatwas prepared by distinguished scholars and researchers.
All fatwas published through “FatwaTok” undergo scholarly review and formal approval to ensure compliance with Shariah standards and the highest levels of accuracy and credibility.
