New activity planned for expatriates at National Day events

Expatriate communities will participate on National Day celebrations at Darb El Saai through a new activity added by the National Day organising committee for the first time.
The new activity shows the keenness of the State of Qatar to show positive contributions of expatriates in the light of strong relations Qatar has with other brotherly and friendly countries.
The organising committee in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently held an introductory meeting with more than 60 ambassadors and representatives of embassies in Qatar and briefed them about the new activity.
It reflects the pride expressed by Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on citizens and residents in his historic speech at United Nations.
With the theme ‘Promise of Prosperity and Glory’, Qatar National Day celebrations will start on December 9 at Darb Al Saai and continue for ten days.
This new activity, which will be held at Darb El Saai, will give a chance to expatriate communities in Qatar to participate in the celebrations and show their traditions and culture in a way that meet the National Day vision.
It is for the first time that residents hailing from different countries are being included to take part in National Day celebration at Darb El Saai.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Culture and Sports
H E Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali, head of the National Day organising committee, said that these activities take a special importance because it came in the light of the unity between expatriates and Qataris.
During the meeting, the Minister stressed on the keenness of the State of Qatar to show positive contributions of expatriates in the light of strong relations which ties Qatar with other brotherly and friendly countries.
The new activity has been named ‘Masirat Al Sadaqah’, which means ‘Journey of Friendship’ and represents the environment and historical context of solidarity between Qataris and expatriates.
This is not a new in the society as it is rooted in its social structure, and that is why the blockade has increased the solidarity and unity between citizens and residents, the Minister added.
He also emphasised on the importance of the presence of the youth in attending the activity and to benefit from what will be provided in other activities at Darb El Saai.
The ambassadors and embassies’ representatives liked the idea of the special activity and stressed that they will invite their communities to participate in the National Day celebrations.
The activity will be organised in collaboration with the National Day organising committee and the diplomatic missions. The celebrations of the National Day will highlight the patriotism and solidarity of the people of Qatar for its leadership, despite the unjust blockade imposed on the country.
