At Tawasoul event, 135 Independent and International schools were awarded yesterday under the title ‘Bringing educators together’ by AlFaisal without borders Foundation (ALF), at QNCC.
The program aimed to honour participating schools, which participated in ALF program in 2016 to 2017. The honouring celebration were attended by Sheikh Faisal bin Al Thani, the founder of ALF, Sheikh Turki bin Faisal bin Qasim bin Al Thani, Ali Talal Al Marie, The Executive Director at ALF and several International and Independent Schools officials.
Sheikh Faisal said: “This celebration aims to honour the schools who participated in ALF program during last year. ALF aimed to achieve Qatar 2030 vision, by providing educational programs to flourish our student’s skills of different ages. We believe in our youth ability to strengthen our beloved country Qatar. As we encourage the students by teaching them skills of teamwork in facing any sort of challenges and working in a modern way, to enhance their cultural, to sever our country.”
Talking to The Peninsula, Ali Talal Mar’e, Executive Director at ALF said: “AlFaisal Foundation was established to be a bridge between educational institutes and governmental bodies which provide services to educate children. Since 2011 we have managed to make these bridges stronger by every passing year. Today we are proud to award 135 independent ad international schools those who cooperated with us every year. Children have participated in many subjects which cover ‘Wajeh Wujhatek’ which means Destination Imagination (DI), Little farmers, Qudorat and many more. We make subject very interesting for children to let them know the actual use of it in real life.”
He said: “This program has respect for other cultures and beliefs, while respecting the values of Islamic teaching in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the ALF Foundation’s ethos. Through supporting programs like DI, ALF wants to promote Qatar as a regional innovator in progressive education, dedicated to arming young people with the right skills to succeed in today’s ever-changing world.”
“Since we started participating DI in 2013, we were one of the first international schools. Our team always qualifies to make it to the international competition level. Every year our students get more enthusiast to participate in the competition. We have been always thankful to Alfaisla foundation for organizing such competitions, which bring out the best of our students. Students have groomed themselves and learnt teamwork through these competitions,” said Nadia January, Dept Principal at Newton British Academy. Talking about student’s participation in “Destination Imagination” program, Asma Al Kabisi. Manager at Al Bayan School, said: “Students participated enthusiastically in all the competitions with keeping alive their creative side, solving problems as a team and managed to face all the challenges. The four teams participating from our school qualified to finals and stood fourth and sixth. These teams made it to the finals as well which were held in USA earlier.”
