DOHA: Qatar Chamber (QC) hosted a meeting yesterday with the visiting Jordanian Minister of Labour Nedal Faisal El Batayneh and his accompanying delegation. QC First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Towar Al Kuwari attended the meeting along with a number of QC Board of Directors, General-Director and several businesspersons.
Jordan’s Ambassador to Qatar, Zeid Al Lawzi and Chairman of Jordan Chamber Of Commerce Nael Al Kabariti were also present.
The meeting reviewed mechanisms of developing the electronic platform for recruiting Jordanians in Qatar according to the directives of the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to provide 10,000 jobs for Jordanian youth.
The Minister stressed the fraternal relations between Qatar and his country, noting that the aim of his visit is to discuss enhancing cooperation relations and strengthening the strategic partnership between both countries in all fields especially in labour aspect.
El Batayneh assured that his country has a strong desire to develop cooperation ties in trade and industrial areas, calling the Chamber to hold a business visit with a Qatari businessmen delegation to visit Jordan.
He praised the Amir’s directives to provide jobs for Jordanians, affirming that both sides made great efforts to implement these directives.
He also stressed that there is a joint coordination between both parties to facilitate communication between concerned bodies and private sector companies with Jordanian youth willing to work in Qatar.
“We are considering the appointment of labour consultant at Jordanian embassy in Doha to follow up labourers’ affairs. We also launched the Jordanian Recruitment National Platform, which is developed in accordance with the modern technological standards to streamline recruitment operations,” he added.
He also said that there is continuing coordination with Qatar Chamber with a view to learn views and needs of the Qatari private sector of labourers, affirming that previous meeting with the Chamber have contributed to developing the platform.
A workshop will be held in the near future to inform the Qatari private sector and businessmen on the platform and help them reach appropriate labourers, he added, saying that there is a potential to link Qatar Chamber with the platform.
For his part, Al Kuwari said that both countries enjoy historic and brotherly relations, noting that the private sector witnessed successful partnerships and joint ventures. He added that there are many projects being held in Qatar for developing the infrastructure, noting that the private sector has a great role in implementing these projects, which opens the door for recruiting more qualified, and trained labourers in all sectors.
The Qatari private sector is interested in recruiting Jordanians, he noted, adding that Qatari companies expressed positive response by giving priority to Jordanians to occupy vacant jobs.
