QIIG reports 4% growth in shareholders’ profits to QR75.728m in 2020

Doha: Qatar Islamic Insurance Group (QIIG) has reported 4 percent growth in the shareholders’ profits that amounted QR75.728m for the year 2020 compared to QR72.675m for the year 2019. 

In the meeting of the Board of Directors of QIIG, held yesterday at QIIG’s head office, Sheikh Abdullah bin Thani Al Thani, Chairman of QIIG’s BOD announced the final financial statement for the year 2020. He expressed happiness that the group achieved a growth in the shareholders’ profits.

He added that the realised growth in the surplus reached 504 percent achieving a total of QR73.477m for the year 2020 compared to QR12.174 in the year 2019. QIIG achieved 76 percent growth in 2020 surplus amounting to QR149.204m compared to QR84.849 for the same period in 2019.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Thani Al Thani added that according to the recommendation of the Sharia’ Supervisory Board, QIIG’s BOD has recommended to distribute an insurance surplus at 15 percent for all policyholders who were participating in the Group’s Takaful operations.

He praised the tangible efforts made by the senior management and the executive team for achieving these positive results, explaining that the total underwritten contributions (premiums) until December 31, 2020 reached QR400,639m compared to QR405,428 for the same period in 2019.

QIIG’s President,  Ali Ibrahim Alabdulghani, extended his thanks to the Chairman and members of the BOD for their confidence and support to the Group’s operations, explaining that as QIIG accustoms its customers in insurance coverage, QIIG has maintained the growth of distribution of annual surplus to be 15 percent from the net operations. 

He assured that as QIIG is a pioneer in Takaful Insurance in the State and the region, it will always keep in mind working to develop all the mechanisms that are in the interests of its operations’ participants, and it provides the fastest and best services ever.
