Doha, Qatar: Maysara provided a fitting conclusion to yesterday’s Al Uqda Race Meeting, producing an authoritative performance to land the Marmi Cup, the Local Thoroughbred Open Race over 1200m.

The six-year-old mare, trained by Hamad Al-Jehani for Mohammed Abdulhadi Al-Hajri, returned to winning form under a confident ride from Pierre Charles Boudot, producing a sharp turn of foot in the straight to settle the feature contest convincingly.

Her late burst proved decisive as she swept past her rivals to score with authority, confirming her consistency at this level and providing her trainer with a notable highlight on the card. Al Nasr Al Washeek, ridden by Ivan Rossi, stayed on well to take second, while Mutamarrid, partnered by Lukas Delozier, completed the podium in a competitive renewal of the race.Pierre Charles Boudot and Maysara cross the finish line to win the Marmi Cup. 

Earlier, the Purebred Arabian feature belonged to Samsa Al Shahania, who maintained his unbeaten record for the season with a determined victory in the Purebred Arabian Handicap over 2200m. Representing Al Shahania Stud and trained by Rudy Nerbonne, the six-year-old showed grit and class under Delozier, responding gamely when challenged to edge out his rivals in the closing stages.

The race developed into a dominant display for the stable, with Ward, ridden by Boudot, chasing him home in second and Jalaad Al Shahania, under Soufiane Saadi, finishing strongly to claim third.

Earlier, Neebrook made a winning start to his Qatar career when landing the opening Thoroughbred Maiden Plate, showing professionalism to score on his local debut. Trained by Ibrahim Saeed Al Malki and ridden by Tomas Lukasek, the three-year-old asserted in the straight to hold off late pressure and open his account in promising fashion.

Anika dominated the Local Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate, delivering a commanding performance to break her maiden decisively. Racing for Wathnan Racing, the Alban de Mieulle-trained filly quickened clear under Megane Peslier, drawing well away from her rivals to stamp herself as one to follow.

Mabsam returned to winning form in the Local Thoroughbred Handicap, showing determination to prevail in a tight finish. Representing Injaaz Stud and trained by Jihad El Ahmad, she was kept up to her work by Salman Fahad Al-Hajri to fend off a late challenge and regain confidence.

Waseelh produced a dominant front-running display to land the Purebred Arabian Novice Plate, never relinquishing control after breaking sharply. Trained by Julian Smart for Khalifa bin Sheail Al Kuwari, she drew clear under Marco Casamento to score with authority.

Loaded Gun showed grit and timing to secure victory in the Thoroughbred Handicap, finishing strongly to prevail in a blanket finish. Trained by Gassim Al Ghazali for Khalid Nasser Al-Attiya, he completed a rider double for Casamento with a determined late surge.

Washington Street continued his upward trend with a convincing success in the Thoroughbred Handicap over 1200m. Trained by Al-Jehani for Al Ghaf Stud, the four-year-old quickened smartly under Boudot to put the race to bed decisively.
