Few events on Qatar’s annual calendar bring together heritage, culture, craftsmanship and international commerce quite like the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE). Now in its 22nd edition, DJWE has grown far beyond a conventional trade exhibition to become a much-anticipated occasion in Doha’s cultural and business calendar.
The 2026 edition, being held from September 28 to October 3 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, brings together 49 exhibitors representing more than 500 brands from 30 countries. The exhibition typically attracts around 30,000 visitors from more than 175 countries, underlining its international reach. DJWE occupies a distinctive place because it connects Qatar’s deep cultural heritage with one of the world’s most sophisticated luxury industries.
For generations, the sea was central to life in Qatar, and pearl diving was a major source of livelihood and trade. Pearls became one of the country’s earliest major export commodities, finding markets across the world. The pearl trade shaped communities, livelihoods and traditions, leaving an enduring imprint on the country’s cultural identity.
That history gives contemporary jewellery in Qatar a distinctive context. The precious stones, intricate craftsmanship and artistic designs displayed at DJWE belong to a modern global luxury economy, yet they resonate with a heritage in which the pursuit of precious gems once demanded courage, endurance and intimate knowledge of the sea. In this sense, DJWE is more than a showcase of luxury. It is also a meeting point between past and present.
The exhibition provides a platform for Qatari creativity while bringing international expertise and audiences to Doha. Major specialised events also generate activity well beyond exhibition halls, benefiting tourism and related sectors. Qatar has identified business events as an important contributor to diversification and wider economic activity, with their impact extending across the tourism value chain.
DJWE’s greatest strength is its ability to make luxury feel connected to place. In Doha, jewellery is not simply about precious materials and contemporary design. It can also tell stories of the sea, craftsmanship, family, trade and memory. That combination gives DJWE an identity of its own. Year after year, it brings the global luxury world to Qatar while allowing the country’s heritage and creative identity to find a contemporary expression.
