When people resort to the law, justice is the victor, and when people resort to the ballot boxes and citizens express their will, the nation is the winner. This was President Tayyip Erdogan’s message to his people in his first remark on the election result where he addressed the crowd in the Uskudar district of Istanbul yesterday.
The results of the historic run-off announced, in which Erdogan earned more than 52% of votes. He said: “Turkiye is the only winner of the elections”. With this victory, the door of the “century of Turkiye” has opened, he said, adding that the election results have shown once again that no one can stop the country’s gains.
Addressing his supporters in Istanbul, Erdogan also thanked “each and every member of the nation who once again conveyed to us responsibility for governing Turkiye for the next five years.”
It is one of the most important elections due to the togh competition, the enthusiasm of the voters and their participation in voting where more than 64 million Turks at home and abroad were entitled to vote.
Even before the official announcement of the election results, President Erdogan received congratulations from several world leaders and Amir H H Shiekh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani was the first to congratulate President Erdogan. “My dear brother Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulations on your victory. I wish you success in your new term, and that you achieve through it what the Turkish people aspire to in terms of progress and prosperity, and growth for our strong bilateral relations.”
For President Erdogan victory in one of the most momentous election in Turkiye’s 100-year history, means a renewal of the Turkish people’s confidence in the President’s successful projects and policies, his vision for further development and confidence on the promises he made during the election campaign to the people of Turkiye.
In his first speech to the audience, President Erdogan affirmed that he would fulfil his promises and fulfil the hopes and aspirations of his people for development, prosperity and well-being. “Allah willing we will be worthy of your trust as we have been for the last 21 years.”
The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye to the State of Qatar, Dr. Mustafa Goksu, underlined “the elections were held with integrity and transparency in light of the strength of the competing parties, especially since Turkiye is accustomed to democracy and elections.”
He added that these elections will open the future for the Turkish people and bring with it more goodness for Turkiye and the entire region.
