The barbaric behaviour of the Israeli occupation authorities is dragging the region into violence, escalation, tension and instability. Its insistence on continuing the policy of collective punishment, killing civilians and attacking them in sacred places, including the blessed Al Aqsa Mosque, instigates more unrest among the people.
The extremist Israeli government looks to escalate the situation taking advantage of the differences between international superpowers due to the war in Ukraine and the political and military crises in the Arab region, including the situation in Syria, Libya, Sudan, Somalia and others, and the complexities of the internal Palestinian circumstances.
The Israeli provocations have gone beyond killing, targeting residents in their homes, land confiscation, imposing a siege on Palestinian cities, non-stop terrorism attacks under the protection of the Israeli army and forceful transfer of the Palestinians, but also raising the flag of the occupation in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque in a desperate attempt to assert sovereignty over the mosque. The Palestinian resistance, which is over eight decades old, has not and will not hesitate to defend its land and Islamic sanctity.
The State of Qatar has condemned the Israeli brutal criminal practices in the strongest terms, considering them a severe escalation and blatant infringement of the holy places, an extension of the policy of Judaizing Jerusalem, and a violation of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.
Qatar has continuously urged the international community to assume its legal and humanitarian responsibilities to take urgent action to end the ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people and enable them to exercise their rights to establish an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
On Wednesday, the Shura Council participated in the meeting of the Palestine Committee of the Arab Parliament, held in Cairo and a member of the Shura Council, Shaikha bint Yousuf Al Jufairi during the meeting, called on all parliaments and the international community to condemn the continuous Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
During a recent open debate on the situation in Palestine, the UN Security Council stressed the underlying political, security, economic and institutional challenges driving the conflict, stating all unilateral measures, provocations and incitement must end. The UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process reiterated that all settlements are illegal under international law and a substantial obstacle to peace.
In light of these calls, the lack of seriousness of the international community and lack of political will to bear responsibility to ensure respect of international law, double standards and inability to hold Israel accountable for its crimes, the suffering of the Palestinian people will continue as long as the international community bow before Israel.
