In its drive to keep pace with the latest technological advancements and provide best services in a simple, easier and faster manner than ever before, the government is investing in technology by harnessing modern communication and IT tools to provide the best services to all categories of beneficiaries.
Therefore Qatar Digital Government programme has introduced the digital government initiatives that enable government and private institutions share e-service to deliver real benefits to people in Qatar.
No doubt that continuous deployment of new services and applications enhances customers’ experience and provides individuals and businesses greater access to government services, improve government efficiency, and openness. Technology offers new opportunities to connect with, and meet the needs of members of the public and the business world, but also avoids capital investments in building IT infrastructure with access to the latest technologies over a secured platform.
The government entities will benefit from cost savings and increase efficiency and access to common and standardised services and eliminate the duplication of costs, reduce risk, procure services as required, implement new capabilities, and innovate in a rapid and cost efficient manner as the Ministry of Communication and Transportation has stipulated. As the state is keen to support the needs of the entities, the Ministry of Transport and Communications will continue to identify more means of communication that will add to its current list.
In order to establish a culture of excellence and positive competition between government entities in the field of digital transformation and provision of the best digital services to the public, the Digital Government Excellence Award is being organised annually. As the award seeks to highlight the best government entities that make outstanding contributions and achievements resulting in a significant transformation in daily operations, this year the award has been granted to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in one category.
The Ministry won the Golden Award 2020 for the best digital services, through its platform that allows the public in the country to get services of the Ministry which are available in a unified and integrated e-services.
The Digital Excellence Award in the governmental sector, one of the initiatives of the Qatar Digital Government Program, has seven categories, which include digital service, open government service, innovative service, government entity - digital transformation, mobile application app, government portal or website and best specialized portal. Honouring the Ministry of Education for the quality services that meet the aspirations of parents and students to complete process of registering and transferring in easily accessible system with highest quality standards is a work that the Ministry deserves to be commended for.
