The State of Qatar and the United Kingdom have established a distinguished relationship over the past decades, at all levels, to serve the interests of the peoples of the two countries. These relations have grown stronger over time and enhanced through mutual visits of leaders and senior officials of the two countries and through holding consultative meetings and discussions on issues of common interests. It was due to keenness and sincere desire of the leadership of both countries to develop friendship bonds on bilateral common interests to serve as a model of friendship and serve the interests of the people of the two countries.
Qatar and the UK share positions on many regional and global issues to ensure international security and stability, a fact reaffirmed the strong partnership, that enables the two states to jointly address regional and global challenges.
The inaugural Strategic Dialogue between Qatar and the United Kingdom, which took place in London, past Monday underlined the commitment of the two counties to cooperate on a range of joint priorities from further support for de-escalation and peace in the Middle East, earthquake relief to Turkiye and Syria, on issues of Ukraine and Horn of Africa among others.
During the sessions of the first annual Strategic Dialogue in London, the two countries agreed to continue progress on areas of ongoing and regular collaboration through official level engagements, including on defense and security, energy, regional security, trade and investment, humanitarian and development assistance, the human rights agenda, science and innovation, and health and education.
The Strategic Dialogue represents a platform for the two countries to continuously review areas of collaboration to maintain a positive trajectory and stress commitments to further strength the partnership. These official engagements will also enhance cooperation on regional issues including the Middle East Peace Process based on a Two State Solution, based on 1967 lines and to revive the 2015 Iranian Nuclear Deal.
As the two parties agree to hold the Qatar-UK Strategic Dialogue annually, the next session of the dialogue is to be held in Doha to discuss opportunities for shared prosperity through investment in sectors aligned with mutual priorities, including clean technologies, life sciences, biotech, agri-tech and EVs/battery technology, which will expand the bilateral relationship and areas of cooperation.
Qatar and the United Kingdom share a vital and flourishing trade and investment partnership, and they enjoy large investments in the two countries, aspects that have enhanced cooperation in all fields, in a way that serves the interests of the two countries and their peoples.
