Partnership strengthened

The visit of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Italy and H H the Amir’s separate official talks with the Italian President and Prime Minister have opened new vistas of enhanced bilateral cooperation strengthening the partnership between two friendly countries.  

H H the Amir held an official session of talks with President of the Italian Republic, H E Sergio Mattarella, at the Quirinal Presidential Palace. During the session, bilateral relations between the two friendly countries were discussed, as well as ways to support and develop them in various fields.

H H the Amir and Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, H E Giorgia Meloni, also held an official session of talks at Villa Doria Pamphili, in Rome. During the session, they discussed prospects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and avenues for bolstering them, especially in the areas of economy, investment, energy and defense, the foremost regional and global developments, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip.

Minister of Defense of the Italian Republic Guido Crosetto affirmed that the visit of H H the Amir to Italy is fundamental for the Italy-Qatar relationship, as it marks a decades-long relation that has intensified and increased over the last few years. CEO of Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ) Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Faisal Al Thani affirmed the strong relations between the State of Qatar and the Italian Republic, as is evidenced by the high-level mutual visits, and the joint aspirations to upgrade the bilateral ties across various fields.

He said that QFZ seeks to create platforms for communication and cooperation, link Italian companies with local companies and government institutions, and boost cooperation and joint work through fruitful partnerships and investments, thus making Qatar a preferred investment destination for Italian companies.

CEO of Eni Claudio Descalzi emphasized the importance of H H the Amir’s visit to the Italian Republic in strengthening economic and investment relations between the State of Qatar and Italy, particularly in the energy sector, which is one of the central pillars of collaboration between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Dario Deste, General Manager of Naval Vessels Division at Fincantieri Italy - one of the largest shipbuilding groups in the world and the first in Europe, said that the visit of HH the Amir to Italy will open the door for more joint cooperation between the two countries, including the maritime field.

Deste said that the cooperation with the Qatari Navy started years ago and that the company is ready to develop that partnership and cooperation further. He stressed that there is a commitment from the Italian government and the Italian Navy in this regard.
