Keeping pace with time

Qatar’s maritime transport sector is committed to developing and modernising the sector in line with Ministry of Transport’s strategic plans aiming at ensuring a safe maritime navigation that meets all safety requirements and obligations.

It keeps pace with international maritime developments through creative and effective application of international maritime instruments and observation of emerging trends.

 The organising committee of the Seatrade Maritime Qatar Conference and Exhibition unveiled yesterday the list of the sponsors for the first edition of the highly anticipated maritime event which will be held on February 4-5, 2025, at the Sheraton Doha Hotel and Resort, under the patronage of Minister of Transport H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani.

The conference, hosted by the Ministry of Transport and organised by Mwani Qatar and Seatrade Maritime, will discuss a number of key topics relevant to the industry, including safe and sustainable shipping, digitalisation and sustainability in the maritime industry, the energy transition in maritime and the role of liquefied natural gas, financing technologically advanced and environmentally friendly fleets for the future, among other topics, with the participation of a distinguished group of specialists, experts, and decision-makers from around the world.

The first-of-its-kind conference in Qatar aims to enable the country’s ports and logistics sector to keep pace with growth and benefit from global expertise in these fields, contributing to the achievement of the Ministry of Transport’s strategic plan to transform Qatar into a thriving regional trade and logistics hub.

Last year, Mwani Qatar achieved a 23 percent increase in transshipment cargo compared to the 2023, underscoring the growing prominence and trust that Hamad Port, Qatar’s main gateway to world trade enjoys among global shipping lines as a key transshipment hub in the region.

Additionally, 2024 saw a significant 10 percent growth in total container handling, an impressive 62 percent increase in RORO units, and a 22 percent rise in livestock heads compared to 2023, Mwani Qatar said in a post, yesterday.

The Seatrade Maritime Qatar Conference and Exhibition is expected to support the significant growth of the maritime sector in Qatar and contribute to the expansion of the ports and logistics industry. The event will facilitate the exchange of global expertise, benefiting the national economy and promoting sustainable development goals.

Through a series of engaging discussions and specialized workshops led by renowned experts in maritime transport, ports, and logistics from around the globe, Seatrade Maritime Qatar will strengthen Qatar’s reputation as a top investment destination.
