Eid Al Fitr is the time for celebrations, for family and friends to gather — for people to host guests and enjoy the warm togetherness of families and sometimes share memorable vacations with their loved ones.

As Qatar and the entire Muslim world celebrate Eid today, it is an occasion that comes after a month of fasting, prayer and recitation of the Qur’an during one of the most spiritually significant months for Muslims. That is why the joy in this holiday can be described as the feeling of happiness for a successful breaking of the fast and communion with Allah through the fast. As Muslims, we thank Allah Almighty, who has bestowed upon us, granted us success, and helped us to fast, pray, and perform good deeds. Also, we congratulate those who recited the Qur’an in Ramadan once or more than once. We also appreciate those who have fed the hungry, maintaining ties of kinship, fasted, and performed night prayers.

After the Eid prayers, people return to their homes to celebrate, especially with traditional delicacies, sweets and baked goods specially prepared for this day. Also, people treat their loved ones with Eidiya gifts.

Besides, many public and private institutions have arranged exciting festive activities allowing guests to enjoy several fun services and spend a cherished and memorable vacation with their loved ones.

Places like Katara, Souq Waqif Doha and Wakra, Msheireb, Aspire and several malls will mark Eid Al-Fitr with various festivities. Activities will include musical performances, arts and crafts, interactive experiments and games that stimulate children’s imagination and creativity and the distribution of gifts (Eideya) to children.

As part of its ‘Feel Eid in Qatar’ campaign, which runs from today through Sunday, April 21-23, Qatar Tourism, in collaboration with Qatar Airways, has unveiled a stellar calendar of fun, family-friendly activities to celebrate the festive occasion of Eid. The weekend’s schedule of events is jam-packed with live stage performances, music concerts, kid’s shows, and sporting events. Also, a daily spectacular fireworks show will wow the public every night from April 21 to 23 at the Doha Corniche.

To give people more time to enjoy pleasant weather during Eid Al Fitr festivity, the Ministry of Municipality has announced that public parks will open for visitors until late night; public parks will be open from 5am to 2am during the Eid holidays. People also use public parks to get together with families and friends during occasions and holidays and exchange greetings.
