Qatar’s healthcare system has been ranked in the world’s top five in terms of quality of care. The country puts the health of the entire community on top of its priorities. The healthcare system in Qatar is marked by its focus on the quality of services.

The country dealt with healthcare challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic and FIFA World Cup 2022 with extraordinary success because of its focus on building a robust medical infrastructure and world-class health services. Theses contributed to its resilience during challenging times.

Everyone in Qatar had equal access to vaccination and other healthcare needs irrespective of social or economic background. The primary healthcare system contributed greatly to the success of the vaccination distribution. The trained medical workforce was well-equipped to meet the challenges.

Qatar has been continuously improving its medical services. Hamad Medical Corporation recently announced a set of system changes to enhance the outpatient appointment booking process and improve access to care for patients. Another initiative to soon benefit patients and ensure faster access to care is the upcoming launch of evening clinics at the Ambulatory Care Center in specialties such as ophthalmology, ear, nose and throat, urology and audiology.

With opening of the new Al Sadd Health Centre, the number of health centres affiliated with PHCC has risen to 31. The expansion comes within the government’s commitment to ensure that all residents have access to high-quality and integrated health services to achieve the healthcare goal of the Qatar Nation Vision 2030. Besides, HMC has announced a new state-of-the-art Qatar Preterm and Precision Medicine Research Clinic. The facility at the Women’s Wellness and Research Center will assess preterm children’s readiness to join school settings.

Speaking during the opening of Middle East Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare 2023 Minister of Public Health, H E Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari said that despite COVID-19 and the FIFA World Cup making the past three years the most challenging period for healthcare staff in recent memory, Qatar’s dedicated healthcare teams have made enormous progress.

The Minister said that the country is committed to achieving new goals. In 2023, the nation will focus its efforts on implementing the new National Insurance Programme, providing fast access to care for patients and ensuring Qatar’s healthcare system continues to be a regional leader for quality and safety, delivering services on par with the world’s best health systems.
