With this powerful statement Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani announced the opening of the tournament saying: “From Qatar, from an Arab country, I welcome everyone to the World Cup 2022. We have worked hard, along with many people, to make it one of the most successful tournaments."
Yes, with the testimony of opponents before friends, not only the World Cup was unique and exciting in terms of its organizing and preparations that reflect huge efforts, but also the matches were amazing and dazzling, full of surprises in particular the exciting final that held the world’s breath for about two hours, after a draw at full-time, again draw in extra time, then penalty kicks that honoured Argentina over France, with both teams giving their all.
Qatar exerted all efforts and invested for this moment of joyful World Cup excitement and Qatar made history, glory and spread joy in the world.
The final also coincided with Qatar’s National Day, which falls on December 18 of each year, under the slogan “Our unity is the source of our strength”. Congratulation to Qatar for the successful achievement, to Argentina, France and all Arab and African teams that showed remarkable progress with Morocco reaching the semi-final for the first time in the history of the World Cup.
This day is significant for Qatar, because Doha fulfilled its promises and silenced the critics and skeptics, after twelve years of hard work and planning based on creativity and uniqueness in the various stages of preparations.
On this glorious day in Qatar’s history, we must express our gratitude to those who laid the foundations for this modern State and established the values and principles on which it was based and preserved its sovereignty and the dignity of its people, under the wise leadership which made Qatar a united, cohesive and independent state.
The State of Qatar proceeded on the paths of glory and honor, accomplishing achievements, patronizing rights, safeguarding covenants, and presenting to the world a bright model for a secure and stable state capable of achieving the highest rates of development and providing a decent life for its people and residents on its land.
