The Lusail International Circuit (LIC) is set to deliver a world-class experience to all with massive renovation underway at the iconic venue for motorsports events.
The circuit was already appreciated by Formula One and MotoGP riders and a new look will make it one of the best racing venues in the world.

With Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) scheduled to host many events including the Formula One, MotoGP and FIA World Endurance Championship in years to come, LIC will become a centre of attraction for all who follow the thrilling sports.

Operational since 2004 when it hosted the inaugural MotoGP Grand Prix of Qatar, LIC has been a hub of motorsport activities in the country also hosting night races. The circuit is also a part of Formula One calendar for 10 years starting this year, after hosting the F1 race for first time in 2021.

The QMMF and the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) recently signed a six-year contract that will see LIC hosting the inaugural ‘6 Hours of Qatar’ endurance race in 2024, with the championship due to race at the venue until at least 2029.

Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani paid an inspection visit on Thursday to Lusail International Circuit development project to see the progress of works and the extent of its preparedness to host international motorsport championships. The Prime Minister inspected the infrastructure, sustainability and buildings being implemented in the circuit, and the preparations related to all logistical and technical services.

The Lusail International Circuit will become a globally acclaimed venue for events by constructing new buildings on an area of 100,000 sqm, and enhancing the efficiency of the roads.

The Lusail International Circuit project contributes to hosting the most important international events through the implementation of a modern infrastructure according to the highest international specifications.

The project will provide grandstands that can accommodate 40,000 spectators, and the number of parking will be increased to accommodate 10,000 cars, in addition to developing the surrounding and internal roads and improving the infrastructure of the circuit and associated facilities.

The project is being implemented in three phases, which include the development of the racetrack, the construction of buildings and associated facilities, in addition to the development of roads surrounding the circuit and the construction of infrastructure networks. All project works are scheduled to be completed by September 2023.
