The preparations that began ten years ago to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 have touched all aspects of development in the State of Qatar and now all facilities are ready to receive fans and visitors during the World Cup, which is only about a month away from its long awaited kick-off.
The city of Doha and its towers have been decorated with pictures of international football stars, and its streets are adorned with flags and posters of the World Cup Qatar 2022 mascot, and songs are prepared to receive the guests of Qatar in the first Arab and Islamic World Cup, which will be held from November 20 to December 18.
The Ministry of Municipality announced that eight beaches will be open for the public on November 1 after refurbishing to welcome fans, visitors, and residents.
Currently Qatar has 136 public parks and the government is giving due attention to increase the green areas in the country, including streets landscaping and encouraging residents to establish home gardens and protect wildlife and preserve environment.
The per capita share of green space for an individual in Qatar today mount to 10 square meters as the project of million trees is almost complete with 6,000 trees to be planted in the coming weeks.
The public parks in Qatar are well maintained, and provide all kinds of fun activities for people of all ages and they are family-friendly places. With most of the public parks having cafés and equipment for sports and exercises, the parks and beaches are free to enter and some can be accessed round the clock.
The Ministry has also explained that 18 beaches were undergoing renovation to provide necessary services for visitors and eight of them will be reopened on November 1 ahead of mega sporting event.
Speaking at the same programme, Director of Public Parks Department Eng Muhammad Ali Al Khouri said that Umm Al Seneem Park, with the largest air-conditioned walkways in the world, will open by the beginning of next month for fans of the World Cup in a bid to encourage people for exercise.
He said that the park with the walkway, similar to that at Al Gharrafa Park, is being developed by the Public Parks Department (Ashghal).
“Public Parks Department in coordination with Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) made special focus on some parks such as Al Muntazah Park, 5/6 Park, Corniche Park and Al Bedda Park in providing more security and ensuring hygiene,” said Al Khouri.
