During its recent session, the Shura Council delivered a clear message that the strength of Qatar lies not only in its institutions but also in the unity of its people. As the country faces blatant aggression from Iran since February 28, the Council’s statement reflects both resolve and a call for national solidarity.
The Council’s commendation of the readiness and professionalism of the Qatari Armed Forces and the nation’s security agencies underscores an important reality. In times of uncertainty, effective institutions form the backbone of national stability. Their vigilance in protecting territorial integrity and maintaining internal security reassures citizens that the state remains capable and prepared. The Council affirmed that national unity and social cohesion constitute the first line of defence in the face of challenges, stressing that “our true strength lies in solidarity, collective resolve, and confronting adversity with a spirit of national responsibility.”
The Council’s message is clear that national unity, responsible leadership under Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and strong institutions together form the foundation that enables Qatar to navigate crises while preserving stability and progress.
Throughout its history, Qatar’s people have consistently rallied behind their leadership during periods of challenge. According to the Council, this unity remains the nation’s most dependable defence. Solidarity, national awareness, and support for state institutions strengthen resilience. The Council also strongly condemned repeated missile and drone attacks targeting civilian facilities and infrastructure, warning that such actions threaten not only Qatar but regional stability more broadly. By highlighting threats to maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz and the potential disruption to global supply chains, the Council framed the situation as one with international implications.
The Council also categorically rejected any justification for the Iranian attacks against the State of Qatar, affirming that such actions cannot be accepted under any pretext. It underscored that Qatar has been among the first countries to advocate dialogue with Iran and has exerted considerable efforts to facilitate such dialogue between Iran and the international community.
