Qatar has not only been ranked the safest country to live free from the risks of natural disasters, rather it is also the safest nation in terms of security and safety of its residents and visitors and one of the most peaceful countries of the world, thanks to the great vision and policies of its leaders.

Qatar is the safest country in the world, according to the latest Numbeo Crime Index by Country 2023. It has topped the index in the last five years after regaining the number one spot from Japan in 2019. In the city category, Doha ranks the second behind Abu Dhabi as the safest city in the world as per the Numbeo Index.
Besides, Qatar remains the most peaceful country in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for the 15th consecutive year, according to 2022 Global Peace Index. Qatar is the only MENA country to be amongst the 25 most peaceful countries globally. Out of 163 countries globally, Qatar secured 23rd spot — six places higher than the previous year — with a high score of 1.533 overall.
According to the 2016 World Risk Report, Qatar is the least prone country in the world to cyclones, droughts, earthquakes, floods, sea-level rises because of its unique geographical location.
Qatar’s ranking as the safest country was further validated during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 as it was hailed as the best and safest tournament in the FIFA World Cup history, recording zero major crimes.
Visiting fans, families and women travellers said they felt safe in the country despite being tourists. People reported many instances of their lost wallets and mobile phones being returned by people who had found them.
Some fans termed the environment in Qatar as family friendly and a good place to bring kids, while some fans said they felt safe everywhere.
A report by British newspaper The Times quoted a group of female fans who accompanied their country’s team to Doha to support the Three Lions saying that they were not harassed, describing the Qatar World Cup stadiums as more suitable for women to watch matches than those in their own country.
The stability in the country has promoted economic growth and attracted foreign direct investment, infrastructure development and an enabling environment for human development and innovation.
