Tourism destination of choice

Last December, Doha was named as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2023, highlighting Qatar’s prominent role in global tourism. The Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism, in its 25th session at the Arab League General Secretariat HQ, made the decision which represents recognition that Doha is a truly remarkable city offering a spectacular tourism experience for all international travelers.

A number of initiatives taken before and during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 allowed many to experience warm hospitality and authentic culture and heritage what made the country occupy a prominent position in the world of tourism.

Thanks to the exciting preparations that make Qatar offer attractions and leisure destinations opening across the country during this year with an exciting calendar of events which are helping in attracting more people from different parts of the world.

According to travel experts, tourism industry and travel trade are featuring a variety of sales tools and up-to-date information that shows that the country has laid foundation to promote itself as global tourism a destination with its warm hospitality sector and authentic culture and heritage.

The local tourism sector is continuously showing a positive outlook as Qatar Tourism Authority continues with their efforts to offer an array of activities and events even after the World Cup, which aim to target both local residents and inbound tourists.

The country is welcoming visitors from around the world, thanks to the exciting calendar of events and initiatives that encourage travelers to visit the country such as the Hayya Card which enable its holders with multiple entries.

The selection of Doha among the safest places for tourists in the world was not less important than other factors that encourage tourists to visit the country. Doha was recently ranked in the top ten safest tourism destinations according to a recent survey by ‘Get Licensed’, a security training platform based in the UK.

In addition to that, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 won a special award by the Arab Union for Tourist Media for the best tourism sports festival award. Qatar grew stronger in terms of tourism-related activities in 2023. While the country is poised to be one of the most-visited leisure destinations in the GCC, several officials state that the World Cup has put Qatar on the world map.

For its part, Doha Port has turned a hub for cruise ships carrying thousands of tourists as the country’s tourism facilities have proven to be one of the most sought after luxury cruise destinations in the Arabian Gulf’s winter cruise season.
