Excitement is building as Qatar gears up to host Expo 2023 Doha, a grand event set to captivate the world. Just three months away from the opening ceremony, Qatar is leaving no stone unturned in its preparations for this momentous occasion.
A delegation from the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) recently visited the Expo House and Al Bidda Park to assess the progress, and their positive feedback has instilled confidence in Qatar’s readiness.
With a target of attracting over three million visitors worldwide, Expo 2023 Doha will be the second largest event hosted by Qatar after the highly successful FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The BIE Secretary General, Dimitri Kerkentzes, expressed his satisfaction with the construction progress, affirming that everything will be in place for the grand opening.
A total of 80 countries are expected to participate in the Expo scheduled to run from October 2, to March 28, 2024.
Beyond gardens and pavilions, Expo 2023 Doha will feature a comprehensive thematic programme consisting of seminars and forums. This programme will foster meaningful discussions and promote knowledge exchange, adding depth to the Expo experience. The integration of various elements ensures that visitors will be immersed in a holistic journey of exploration and enlightenment on the theme “Green Desert, Better Environment” aimed to address the challenges faced by hot desert nations in terms of desertification and sustainability.
As the countdown to Expo 2023 Doha continues, anticipation grows for the remarkable display of innovation, culture, and ideas that Qatar and participating countries will bring to the world stage. With Rwanda and the United Kingdom already confirmed as participants, the Expo promises to be a melting pot of diverse perspectives and a catalyst for global collaboration and will serve as a platform to showcase the development of agriculture, the greening of cities, and inspire visitors through the subthemes of modern agriculture, technology and innovation, environmental awareness, and sustainability.
The 179-day event also seeks to foster successful international collaborations that promote a thriving green lifestyle within desert environments.
Qatar has demonstrated its ability to successfully host large-scale events, and Expo 2023 Doha is poised to be another feather in its cap. This international extravaganza will not only showcase the country’s capabilities but also provide a platform for countries to share their achievements and aspirations in fighting climate change, promoting sustainability, among others.
