With the start of new year, a number of cultural, sports activities have already started at different venues of the country and dozens are on the calendar to make this year vibrant like the previous one.
The year 2023 has also a lot to offer to residents and visitors in which many local and international events from sports, fashion, food, music, and more to be hosted.
The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara has already begun preparing the location where the third edition of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF) will take place. The festival, to be held at Katara Esplanade, will start from February 1 to 11.
Also fifty hot air balloons will fill the Doha skies as it takes off from January 19 to 28 happening at its new venue at Old Doha Port. The third edition of the festival will be a “fun-filled family event with a spectacular colourful display of over 50 Hot Air Balloons participating from around the world.”
The Doha Film Institute (DFI) has also opened registration for the lecture series “Watching the Classics” with Professor Richard Peña, the tenth session of which will take place on January 17, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
Other attractions planned for the year include Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, AFC Asian Cup, Expo 2023 Doha, Geneva International Motor Show Qatar, Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix, Grand Prix of Qatar, Shop Qatar, Qatar Live and Qatar International Food Festival among many others.
The 19th edition of the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) is confirmed to return from February 20 to 25 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC). DJWE is a global platform for luxury products, with more than 500 international leading watch and jewellery brands.
The 9th Destination Wedding Planners (DWP) Congress will take place from March 14 to 16. The Eid Festival is also expected to return in 2023. Expo 2023 Doha, the second-largest global event in Qatar after the World Cup, will take place for six months, from October 2 to March 28, 2024, at Al Bidda Park.
Geneva International Motor Show Qatar will run from October 5 to 14 at DECC and other notable locations in the city. The Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix 2023 meanwhile will run from October 6 to 8 at Losail International Circuit.
Shop Qatar will likewise return this year which celebrates the country’s wide range of retail, beauty and entertainment options and unfolds around popular Doha shopping malls.
