Dr. Ashfaq Bengali from Texas A&M University at Qatar during the ‘Engineering Solution to Global Challenges’ seminar.
Doha: Pakistan International School Qatar recently hosted a seminar titled ‘Engineering Solution to Global Challenges’ for the students and faculty members.
The guest speaker was Professor Dr. Ashfaq Bengali from Texas A&M University at Qatar who delivered the lecture on October 23 in Arbab Auditorium. His research is focused on the photochemistry of transition metal containing organometallic complexes.
The students of higher secondary classes of boys and girls wing were the audience. The session started with the recitation of Holy Quran. After a brief introduction of the guest speaker, Professor Bengali was invited on the stage for his multimedia presentation. His topic was ‘climate change, its causes, impacts and their solutions’.
Students were also asked many questions by the learned speaker about their future plans. It was a great interactive session to prepare the listeners and to involve them in the friendly atmosphere where they spoke about their ideas. He started his presentation by asking the audience about the global challenges.
After their feedback, he pointed out main challenges including climate change, diseases, alternative energy sources, poverty, pollution among many others.
Professor Bengali discussed climate change in length taking feedback from the audience. He explained about the main causes of climate change. He talked over its impact which are the change of sea level, destructive weather, wars for food and migration.
In the end, he motivated the students to come forward, be curious and realise their responsibilities by achieving higher education specially in science and engineering.
Research and only research is the key to get control over this global problem.
