DOHA: The Emergency Services Section receives daily about 5,000 to 6,000 calls, 80 percent of which are non-emergency ones, said Col. Saeed Hassan Al Mazroui, Director, Control Room (Operations Department) at National Command Centre.
He said most calls are related to complaints and inquires related to security.
The most important calls are related to traffic accidents, fires and disputes, he added.
Speaking about the Traffic Monitoring Section, Col. Al Mazroui said radars and cameras installed at various places help reduce traffic violations as motorists become aware of these equipment and respect traffic rules, Al Sharq reports.
Some 60 percent of roads in Doha downtown have cameras and radars, he said.
Work is continuing to cover the remaining roads, Col. Al Mazroui said, adding that in outer areas, cameras have been installed only on main streets.
