Five-year jail, fine for drug peddler

DOHA: A criminal court has sentenced an Asian man to imprisonment for selling drugs  and ordered his deportation after he has served the term. 
The man was sentenced to five years and fined QR200,000 on three charges filed by public prosecution, Al Sharq reported yesterday.  The prosecution accused the convict of keeping, selling and  promoting the use of drugs. An official from the Anti-Drug Enforcement Directorate testified as a key witness that his department had received a tip-off on drug deals. 
The directorate organised a sting operation and police sent an undercover man to the convict.
The decoy pretended to be a buyer and paid money. When the convict was handing over drugs to him, police arrived.
The convict threw the money and tried to run away, but slipped and fell down and was arrested.
However, the Asian denied the accusations and said he had no links to drug dealing. 
Based on evidence, the court found the man guilty under Article 85 of Penal Code and ruled.. The Peninsula
