GCC meeting on civil retirement begins

Doha: The 37th meeting of the Standing Technical Committee of the GCC Civil Retirement and Social Security started yesterday.
Qatar is hosting the meeting represented by the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority (GRSIA), Qatar News Agency reports.
The two-day meeting will review progress of applying insurance protection extension system for GCC nationals and latest developments in qualifying trainers specialised in retirement issues, among others.
It will also discuss joint programmes and projects and exchange experiences and expertise.
Ali Al Kuwari, Director, Contributors Department, GRSIA, stressed the keenness of the GCC retirement authorities to provide all means for decent livelihoods for members and hailed continued cooperation and coordination among them.
He said the meeting is part of regular meetings of the committee to review pension procedures and follow up progress of the application of modern insurance systems.
He thanked committee members and representatives of the retirement and social insurance in GCC countries for accepting the invitation and said GRSIA is keen to host such meetings on regular basis to promote GCC cooperation and relations.
