Brussels: Qatar’s candidate to the post of the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) and Cultural Adviser at the Emiri Diwan, H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari stressed the need for the cooperation and solidarity of the international community to fight terrorism.
Terrorism is a common threat of whole humanity and it does not differentiate between its targets, he said, condemning all forms of terrorism. Al Kawari laid a wreath at the memorial of the victims of terrorist attacks at the Maelbeek metro station along with Mayor of Brussels Yvan Mayeur and Qatar’s Ambassador to Belgium Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al Thani who is also the Head of Mission of Qatar to the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (Nato).
Dr Al Kawari expressed sympathy with the victims’ families from different nationalities and thanked the Mayor of Brussels for giving him such a humanitarian opportunity. For his part, the Mayor thanked Qatar’s Unesco candidate for his humanitarian initiative that would have a profound impact on the families of the victims.
