Moscow, Russia: The Kremlin has said an alleged Ukrainian drone attack targeting a residence used by President Vladimir Putin in the Novgorod region was intended to disrupt ongoing negotiations and was not directed solely at the Russian leader.
Speaking on Tuesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the incident should be seen as an attempt to undermine dialogue efforts, particularly talks involving the United States.
Peskov stressed that Russia would not withdraw from negotiations, adding that Moscow would continue the process of talks and dialogue despite the incident. He also said the Russian military knew how and when to respond, while claiming that Kyiv had attempted to deny responsibility.
Ukraine has rejected the accusations. On Monday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Russia's claims as another round of lies, saying they were intended to justify further attacks on Ukraine and prolong the war.
