MES Indian School won eight medals (one gold, five silver and two bronze) in the CBSE National Athletic Meet at Sunbeam International School, Varanasi, India, from December 18 to 22. More than 2,300 schools under CBSE participated in the competitions and MES Indian School emerged the overall runners-up in the boys’ under-19 category. Mohammed Faaz, the previous CBSE national champion, won the gold medal in triple jump and a bronze medal in high jump while Mohammed Ashiq won a bronze medal in 200 metre race. The relay team of Mohd Faaz, Mohd Ashiq, Sijo Mathew, Akhil Ismail and Arun Krishnan won a silver medal in 4x100 competition. Akbar Ali, Steeson Mathew and Nazanin, teachers, Department of Physical Education, trained the MES team.
