Doha, Qatar: Muaither SC defeated Umm Salal 3-2 in their Round 4 clash of the QSL Cup yesterday, halting their winning run in the 20-team event.

At the Thani bin Jassim Stadium in Al Gharafa, a brace from Aldoukali Al Baour and a goal by Albert Ramis Laque, secured their second win, while Umm Salal suffered their first loss.

Ahmed Abdulmaqsoud struck first, and Ali Afif scored from a penalty kick for the losing side, which remained in third place in the standings.

The victory lifted Muaither’s tally to eight points as they occupy the 10th spot, while Umm Salal remain on 10 points after the fifth round.

Earlier, Al Bidda cruised past Al Sailiya 3-0 at the Grand Hamad Stadium.

Tiku Cosmas netted a double, while Amen Allah Maherzi added the third as Al Bidda raised their points total to eight, while Al Sailiya stayed on nine points.

Al Bidda are now placed ninth, while Al Sailiya stayed on seventh spot.

Meanwhile, Abdelaziz Al-Yahri struck in the 40th minute as Al Markhiya beat Al Khor 1-0 at the Hamad Bin Khalifa Stadium. Al Markhiya moved to seven points as they climbed to 12th spot, while Al Khor remain on seven points, one spot above.

As the fifth round of the tournament came to a close, Al Arabi and Al Rayyan remain neck and neck at the top of the standings, with both sides collecting 13 points from four wins and a draw each.

Al Arabi lead the table on goal difference, boasting a +14 margin and 18 goals scored, while Al Rayyan follow closely with a +9 difference and an identical goal tally.

The two teams remain the only unbeaten sides so far this season.

The QSL Cup action resumes on November 14.
