Qatar’s pavilion at Expo Astana 2017 attracted more than 300,000 visitors since it first opened on June 10 this year, to become one of the most popular pavilions among the participating countries.
A statement released yesterday by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce said that the Qatar’s pavilion continued to offer a number of distinguished events and activities that reflected the Qatari heritage. Their were also creative shows that discussed a number of the mega projects established in Qatar in the field of energy.
The statement said the pavilion dedicated a day to the Expo’s volunteers, in honour of their efforts and cooperation with all participating countries and with visitors. The event saw a number of activities take place, including teaching the volunteers how to write their names in Arabic. Female volunteers got their own henna hand designs as well.
Deputy director of the volunteers department at the Expo attended the event, along with more than 400 volunteers who expressed their thanks for the Qatari pavilion for the unique initiative in recognition of their contribution. July 17 was chosen as the golden day of Qatar’s pavilion, where they held a number of activities to promote the section to the visitors.
The activities included playing a number of Qatari and Kazakh songs, which highly entertained the crowd.
There is a full programme ahead for August and September which includes a number of seminars and workshops related to future energy. The pavilion enjoys a design that merges modernity with heritage and Qatari culture. It presents a number of successful projects that the country has undertaken in the field of sustainable energy, as well as the country’s strategy in diversifying their energy sources in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
There are a number of sections inside the pavilion. One seeks to present Qatar’s history to the participants. Another focuses on future technology, and the steps Qatar has taken in the field of green energy. There is also a section that discusses the impact of sustainable energy on the prosperity of societies.
Expo Astana 2017 will end on September 10, with more than a 100 countries and 18 international organisations taking part. It is forecast to attract a total of five million visitors and provides an opportunity to promote a number of industries of the energy sector.
