Liaison officers taking part in a session on the opening day of the training programme yesterday.
Doha: The Strategic Planning Department at the Ministry of Interior has organised a training session for liaison officers from various departments to introduce strategic management system application.
The three-days session started yesterday at Training Hall of the General Directorate of Borders Passports and Expatriates Affairs.
The Director of the department, Colonel Abdul Rahman Majid Al Sulaiti, said that the new computer application will be used to monitor implementation of the strategy by the ministry and all institutions. “The ministry is striving to develop and improve performance, and this will not happen unless there is a clear mechanism, monitoring, follow-up and evaluation of the performance and implementation of the system. It is one of the objectives of the ministry for 2011-2016,” Colonel Al Sulaiti said.
He said that the new application is a joint effort between specialists at the Strategic Planning Department and Information Systems Department at the ministry in terms of concept, design and development to achieve success in implementation and follow-up.
The application will ensure quicker results on the performance of the ministry and its departments for decision-makers.
Colonel Al Sulaiti said that the programme will contribute to transition to a paperless process because all stages of performance evaluation and monitoring will be through the automated system.
He added that the programme will also ensure continuous monitoring of performance, evaluate the commitment of departments to implementation of the strategy in accordance with deadlines and direct departments in case of delay or non-compliance with the timeframe. The liaison officers will be trained in the application to prepare operational programmes and plans and make reports on implementation.
