Doha: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has announced the administrative closure of 6 beauty salons, located in Al Waab, Duhail,SalwaRoad, Al Kheesa and Al MirqabAl Jadeed, from a one to a two week period for using expired hair products.
The inspection campaign comes within the framework of the ministry’s Ramadan initiatives under the theme #Aqal_Min_Al_Wajeb,” the Arabic for “#the_least_we_can_do.” The ministry has intensified its campaigns ahead and throughout the holy month of Ramadan in a bid to monitor markets and commercial activity in order to crack down on price manipulation and protect consumer rights.
Inspectors from the ministry fined the beauty salons and compelled their closure from one to two weeks in line with article (7) of law number (8) of 2008. The law compels suppliers to clearly display on the product’s package the nature of the item and other relevant data while prohibiting the display of fraudulent descriptions, advertisements and misleading statements.
